HOWEVER, please note that Independence Pass is closed in the winter. Although Mapquest may state otherwise, take I-70 all the way to Glenwood Springs and then Highway 82 to Aspen.

Aspen has an airport, but flights can be delayed by winter weather. Vail has a bigger airport and is about a 1-hour drive from Aspen. Denver is 3-1/2 to 4 hours from Aspen by car.
