Travel and Accommodations
Symposium Hotels - Transportation and Parking Blocks of rooms have been reserved at five hotels in Naperville, Illinois:
These hotels will be serviced by a Symposium bus service in the mornings and evenings of the days the Symposium is in session. All of these hotels are located approximately 13 km (8 miles) from Fermilab, conveniently adjacent to I-88/East-West Tollway at the Naperville Road exit. The hotel locations offer easy access by car to Fermilab as well as O'Hare International Airport, Midway Airport, and Downtown Chicago. Note that these hotels do not have shuttle service to area airports. You can get to the hotels by either rental car or limousine (see the Transportation information on this page). Reservations must be made directly with the hotels, as indicated in the information found below. When making your reservations, please request the group rate for the Fermilab Lepton Photon 2003 Symposium or use the Group Code in the table below. Hotel reservations must be made by 31 July 2003. After that date, accommodations at the Symposium rate will be possible on a "space available" basis only. All hotels have agreed to honor the Symposium rate two days prior to and two dates after the Symposium only for attendees and guests utilizing the pre- and post-meeting days continuous with and contiguous to the days of the Symposium. Please note that these additional days outside the time of the Symposium may be limited by availability. All hotels require one night's deposit (cost of room plus 10.4% tax) in order to guarantee the reservation. These deposits are due at the time the reservation is made.
Transportation to and from Chicago O'Hare Airport and Midway Airport is available by limousine, rental car, or taxi. There is no public transportation to Fermilab, and taxi service is costly. You are strongly encouraged to rent a car, sharing where convenient. Limousine Service Reservations for limousine service should be made in advance when possible. We suggest the West Suburban Limousine Service. It is a shared-car limousine so the rates are reasonable. They are familiar with Fermilab and do not overcharge. If five (5) or more share a limousine, a charge of $10 will be added for the necessary stretch limousine. NOTE: Above rates subject to City of Chicago Tax. Car Rentals As stated above, you are strongly encouraged to rent a car. All of the usual rental companies (Hertz, Avis, Budget, National, etc.) are located at the airports. For the best price, we recommend Ace Rent-a-Car at O'Hare Airport, telephone 1-800-323-3221 or 847-297-3350. Request the Fermilab Rate. A small fleet of cars is available for short-term rental at Fermilab through the Users' Office. These rentals must be picked up and returned to Fermilab. There is no pickup or drop off at either of the airports. You can reserve a car by calling the Office (630) 840-3111, or by sending e-mail to usersoffice@fnal.gov. Recommended Driving Route from O'Hare to the Symposium Hotels: If you turn right onto Naperville Road at the end of the exit ramp, the Holiday Inn Select Naperville will be on your right just after you travel under the Tollway overpass (at the intersection of Naperville Road and Diehl Road). The Best Western Naperville Inn and the Exel Inn are a short distance down the road (Naperville/Wheaton Road) on your right. The Days Inn is located further south near the intersection of Naperville Road and Ogden Avenue, on Ogden Avenue going west, on the south side of the street.

Sunset Livery Service Parking Parking near Wilson Hall is limited and restricted. If you are not taking the Symposium shuttle and wish to drive to Fermilab, overflow parking is being planned in several areas near Wilson Hall but some walking will be involved. A map showing the overflow parking areas is in the Maps section below. The Fermilab area has many hotels; you may find a list at http://fnalpubs.fnal.gov/users/hotels.html. There are also hotels in nearby St. Charles, Illinois. Please note that only hotels listed above under Symposium Hotels will be serviced by shuttle buses to Fermilab so you must have access to a car if you plan to stay at any other hotel. A very limited number of dormitory rooms may be available in the Fermilab on-site housing. Each room has a single bed and telephone, with central shower/bath facilities, kitchens, and lounge areas located within each dormitory. Dormitory rooms range in price from $14 to $18.50 per night.
