Large-Scale Cluster Computing Workshop

May 22-25, 2001

 Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory

(Dates are Pending final approval from Sponsors)

Large Scale Computing
in High Energy Physics, Astrophysics, Accelerator Physics and Nuclear Physics

Sponsored by
Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and CERN

Recent revolutions in computer hardware and software technologies have paved the way for the large-scale deployment of clusters of commodity computers to address problems heretofore the domain of tightly coupled SMP processors. Nearterm projects within High Energy Physics -- and other computing communities -- will deploy clusters of scale 1000s of processors and 100s of independent users. This will expand the reach in both dimensions by an order of magnitude from the current successful production facilities. The goals of this workshop are to disseminate knowledge of design, construction and operational techniques and foster closer interactions between computer scientists and physicists.
Researcher in other fields who may have interesting contributions to the workshop are welcome to contact us by writing to lccws@fnal.gov .
