Fermilab
Site Access
The
tutorial will be held at the Training Center located on the right side of
Road
A-1, one mile North of Wilson Hall. See map for directions. Parking at the training center site
is limited, but overflow parking is available across the street by the Meson
Facility (the building with a semi-circular orange roof). We recommend to
car pool from the Training Center to Wilson Hall at noon for lunch, since
parking lots are nearly full during lunch hours.
Due to heightened security, Fermilab currently offers limited access in
accordance with the policies of the U.S. Department of Energy instituted
on 4 April 2003. Entry to the Site must be made through the Pine Street
entrance on your first visit. Participants will be issued three days passes
for them and their companions at the Guard Post. Please be prepared to show
a government-issued photo ID (i.e. driver's license or passport) in order
to pick up your pass. Non-US citizens must show a passport and a valid visa
at the entrance. In subsequent days, you may access
the Site through either the Pine Street entrance or the Batavia Road entrace
off Rte. 59. You must carry and display your pass and tutorial badge at
all times.
Of course, the restrictions described in the previous paragraph do
not apply to people (regardless of citizenship) carrying a DOE laboratory
photo ID (for example if you are a Fermilab, SLAC, .., employee) or if
you are already a Fermilab user (with valid visitor ID).
We apologize for any inconvenience these new regulations may cause you.
Every
participant must bring his/her own laptop. Ethernet ports and wireless
connection will be available. You are expected to bring a laptop since workstations
will not be available. You should also try to have a working version of Geant4
running in your computer beforehand, or otherwise an account in fnalu if
you are a Fermilab User/Employee (where G4 will be available). For information
on how to download the tutorial software on your laptop, please visit the
following URL: http://geant4.slac.stanford.edu/g4cd/Documentation/WorkshopExercises/Exercise0.html
Please submit questions to the tutorial mailing list: g4tutorial@fnal.gov
Fermilab operates a free taxi service at site between the hours
of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no weekend service. To call the taxi, dial 4225 (HACK) on any Laboratory phone.
The taxi picks up passengers on the east side of the Ground Floor in Wilson
Hall. Please remember that the taxi stops at other
locations to pick up and drop off passengers, so allow additional time when
using this service.
Users Center
The Users Center is located
at 10 Che Che Pinqua in the Village. It is a recreational
facility containing a large-screen TV room, a music room with a grand piano,
a game room with ping-pong tables and pool tables, and a lounge with a
full bar. The Users Center is open Monday through
Friday from 5:00 p.m. to midnight.
Food
Service
The Eurest Dining Center at Fermilab is open for breakfast and
lunch Monday through Saturday. There is no dinner

Wilson Hall parking lots are typically full during lunch hours. The hours
of operation during the week and on Saturdays are as follows:
