Transportation |

Transportation to and from Chicago
O'Hare Airport or Midway Airport is available by limousine, taxi or car
rental. There is no public transportation to Fermilab. Car Rental: All of the usual rental companies (Hertz, Avis, Budget, National, etc.) are located at the airports. For the best price, we recommend Ace Rent-a-Car at O'Hare Airport, telephone 1-800-323-3221 or visit their web site, as their prices are competitive and include the cost of insurance. We recommend renting a car while visiting the Symposium. Limousine Service: Around Fermilab having a car seems to be essential. Outside the City of Chicago public transportation almost does not exist. Only a train ( Metra), which operates approximately every half hour during rush hour, connects the suburbs around Fermilab with Chicago downtown. Public transportation from the train stations to Fermilab does not exist. But when you want to visit the City of Chicago you might want to consider leaving the car at the Metra train station and take the train downtown. This way you avoid traffic and the costs for parking which are quite steep in Chicago. For weekends an inexpensive ($5) Weekend Pass which allows unlimited rides on both Saturday and Sunday.
