Looking Forward to Forward Physics V.A.Khoze ( IPPP, Durham University,UK) Recently there has been much interest in studying events with tagged forward protons at present and forthcoming hadronic colliders. This would allow not only to monitor the luminosity of the colliding protons with high accuracy but also can provide the new ways to investigate the subtle issues of QCD and to search for the manifestations of New Physics. We discuss the central exclusive diffractive production (CEDP) of various heavy systems (e.g. Higgs, dijets, SUSY particles ) at the LHC and Tevatron energies. We quantify the rates and the signal-to-background ratios for these processes. The main emphasis is on Higgs production. Special attention is paid to the studies in the regions in the MSSM parameter space where the CEDP is found to have unique advantages as compared to the traditional non-diffractive strategies. We show that the physics programme with the tagged forward protons is in many aspects complementary to both, the standard approaches at hadronic colliders, and to the studies at a future linear collider.
