Computation in Lattice QCD

Paul Mackenzie

Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics uses large scale numerical simulation to solve problems that were unsolvable with earlier perturbative methods. In the last few years, problems crucial to the high energy physics experimental program have been solved, but new quantities and even higher accuracies are urgently needed.

The field is now in a ferment of development of new methods and new computing hardware. I will review recent developments in these areas, and the dynamic tension between them.
