Future Research Networks Bob Aiken Mgr, University Research Cisco Systems, Inc. raiken@cisco.com New network technologies are changing the way the world does business, even research, and it is creating new collaborative network based environments that researchers, specifically physicists, will be most likely the first to use to support their research. This presentation will briefly describe these new environments and then outline recent and projected advances in networking technologies and architectures and their potential effect on being able to support these new ways of doing e-everything. This includes new technologies in high performance and edge/aggregation networks, as well as intelligent network infrastructures.
